REUSE-A-SHOE:

It's back!!  The Nike Reuse-A-Shoe collection program has started up again this spring.  Collect all your old sneakers & athletic shoes and bring them to one of three locations in town:  Public Works (52 N. Granby Road), Transfer Station (Old Stagecoach Rd.), or the YMCA (Salmon Brook St.).   The only requirements are that they must be dry and have no cleats, please.

And don't forget to visit the spectacular Playscape at Salmon Brook Park, where you can see the resulting playground surface; Nikegrind!

ROAD SWEEPING:

THINK ABOUT IT...

Every resident of Granby throws away nearly 2 pounds of trash every day. And although these numbers are on the decline, it is clear we need to continue to reduce the amount of trash we generate. Waste reduction can easily become second nature to all of us, if we adopt a few very simple habits.

Keep a canvas bag in your car and use it for shopping rather than using bags from the store.

Buy in bulk when you can. And avoid purchasing disposable items (razors, pens, lighters, etc.)

Give paint, old clothing, furniture and appliances to charities. Or have a tag sale.

Buy recyclable containers and items with little or no packaging. And buy recycled products.

Compost! Compost! Compost!
