AMAZING!
The Town of Granby continues to recycle at a rate far above the state average. Even as the Town grows with new residents and family additions, the overall quantity of trash we send to the Hartford trash to energy plant has remained the same. The big benefits for the Town are stable budgets for trash collection and disposal, reduction in landfill waste, and environmentally conscientious recycling.
Over the last few years, we have added electronics recycling, mixed paper and magazine collections, and periodic sneaker collections. These programs are expenditure neutral, so Town residents can participate without incurring any additional expenses to the overall budget. Participation in these programs has been remarkable.
The recent addition of mixed paper and junk mail to the curbside recycling program will also add significantly to our waste reduction efforts.
If you have an idea or opinion on recycling, trash collection, or any other topic related to the disposal of waste, please call, write or email us at the Public Works Department, and we will make every effort to implement it if possible.
