APPROVE MINUTES
ON A MOTION BY Kate Bogli, seconded by Stanley Hayes, the Commission voted (5-0-0) to approve the minutes of June 9, 2010 as written.
USE OF TOWN LAND FOR AGRICULTURE – NEXT STEPS:
- The Guidelines for Agricultural Land Use and Agricultural Leases was forwarded to the Town Manager for approval. It will then go to the Board of Selectmen.
- The next step for the Agricultural Commission will be to look at the inventory of town land. Because the Board of Selectmen won’t meet in August, the Commission will discuss this in September as they will not have heard from the Board before then.
TOWN SANDWICH BOARD:
- The sandwich board is done. Ms. Niedermeyer will contact Nancy Butler to see if she would be willing to paint it.
- The Granby Agriculture website address will be on the board permanently.
- Ms. Niedermeyer will contact farmers when the board is ready.
- Each farm can use the board for a two-week period.
- If there is a time where the board isn’t being used by a farm, it will state, “Support Granby agriculture”.
UPDATE ON WEBSITE:
- All the farms and their products are on the website.
UPDATE ON GRANBY SAMPLER:
- At this point, 24 people have signed up for the Sampler and three more have asked for information.
- The pick-up will be at Rome’s. It was decided to use a more central location and Ms. Niedermeyer thanked Bob Brockett for the offer to use the Grange.
- There was a brief discussion regarding the program and how it works. Ms. Niedermeyer will contact MaryAnn Curling tomorrow about sending out a notice to farmers and participants explaining the process, i.e. what’s provided each week, how farmers get paid, etc.
UPDATE ON FARM MAP:
- The farm map is done and a copy was included in the first distribution of the Sampler.
OTHER NEW BUSINESS:
