TOWN OF GRANBY
COMMISSION ON AGING
February 14, 2011


PRESENT:        Dr. Peter Barwick, George Bronsord, JoAnne Desrosiers, Incy Muir, Bruce Sullivan, Jack Vanderbilt; Staff Present:  Kerry Kielbasa, Director of Human Services; Sandy Yost, Program Coordinator

GUESTS: Lori Blackburn, Meadowbrook; Lindsey Fetzner, Granby Patch


As there was not a quorum present, Dr. Barwick cancelled the meeting.

NOTES:

  • Dorothy Pryor is the Volunteer of the Month for January.
  • The Valentine’s Luncheon that was scheduled for today was cancelled due to the fact that so few people had signed up.
  • The Tax Assistance Program is currently being held every Tuesday and runs through April 5th.
  • The Safe Driver Program will be held on April 14th.
  • The Mind Sharpener Program will be offered again beginning March 9th and will run for eight weeks.
  • The Live Well program will be offered in May.
  • There are currently 30 members of the Senior Club.  They currently have $4,088 and made a profit of $820 on the cookbooks.
  • The Beverly Foundation is currently doing a survey regarding transportation services for seniors.  Results will affect grant eligibility.
  • The RFP (Request for Proposal) for the DOT grant is out and is due April 1st.  The RFP for NCAAA is out also.
  • Fuel assistance for seniors has been very busy.  There have been a lot of applications for individuals who never applied before.
  • After attending a Senior Center trip, Jack Vanderbilt suggested trips be rated regarding degree of difficulty for people with canes, walkers, etc.
