Conservation Commission Minutes 01-07-2010
TOWN OF GRANBY
Conservation Commission
Minutes
January 7, 2010

Chairman Lengvarsky called the meeting to order and confirmed a quorum at 7:37 p.m.

MINUTES:

The minutes from the December 17, 2009 meeting were reviewed.

ON A MOTION by N. Hornish, seconded by S. Reuben, the minutes of the December 17, 2009 meeting were approved (3-0-2) with C. Flint and S. Dwyer abstaining.

COMMUNITY RESOURCE INVENTORY LIST

Francis Armentano, Director of Community Development attended this meeting to speak with the Commission regarding their Community Resource Inventory List.  Several topics were discussed including open space planning, aquifers and water, wells and water sources, and land use.  The documents will eventually be put online and should continuously be updated.  This will be a good source of information for the public and will give them ideas as to how they can get involved.  Mr. Armentano indicated he would be willing to assist the Commission in putting together the written list.

20% BY 2010 CAMPAIGN

No new information is available at this time.

NEW BUSINESS

Ridgelines?  Chairman Lengvarsky will talk with Mr. Armentano and set a date to go to a Planning and Zoning meeting to discuss this issue.

C. Flint reported that the Wild and Scenic Study group is looking for letters of support from the town boards and committees.  They would like a formal vote of endorsement from the Conservation Commission.  Ms. Flint will bring the print out regarding this issue to the next meeting, although she stated the study can be found on the website and she encouraged all the members to view it before the next meeting.

The Wild & Scenic Draft Resolution and Endorsement will be placed on the Agenda for the January 21, 2010 meeting.

N. Hornish stated his name was spelled wrong on the Conservation Commission’s listing on Town of Granby website.  It will be corrected.

C. Flint asked about the vacancy on this committee.  There is one vacancy for a Republican appointment.

N. Hornish reported that on January 21, 2010 there would be a Smart Growth presentation at the New Hartford Senior Center at 6:00 p.m.  All Boards and Committees will be invited and it is open to the public.  A discussion ensued as to if committee members who attend this program would be able to make it to the regularly scheduled Conservation Commission meeting at 7:30 p.m.  It was thought, time wise, the members could attend both meetings.
ADJOURN

ON A MOTION by C. Flint, seconded by S. Reuben, the commission voted unanimously (5-0-0) to adjourn the meeting at 8:26 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Susan Christian
Acting Recording Secretary
