TOWN OF GRANBY
CONSERVATION COMMISSION
MINUTES
September 16, 2010
PRESENT: Neil Hornish, Susan Dwyer, Shelley Reuben, and Carolyn Flint.
Also present was Anna Sogliuzzo, a Granby resident interested in the Clean Energy Task Force.
CLEAN ENERGY TASK FORCE:
The informational packet was given to First Selectman John Adams, and the letter requesting interest parties was mailed. Representatives from Holcomb Farm have already responded and will be in attendance at the Board of Selectmen’s meeting. Representatives from the School Facilities Department have also confirmed they will be at the meeting.
Chairman Hornish will bring extra copies of the packet to the Board of Selectmen meeting, for those members who may not have received or forgot to bring their packet.
Ms. Reuben is finalizing the presentation and will contact the Commission members if she needs any assistance; however, as of right now she does not need help.
NATURAL RESOURCE INVENTORY:
Mr. Zafian was not in attendance at the meeting. The Commission is still waiting to hear from him in regards to his section on aquifers.
Ms. Dwyer is almost complete with her section and should be ready to present it to the Commission later this fall.
Some discussion in regards to stream property rights was held. Ms. Sogliuzzo volunteered to assist Ms. Flint in researching this topic.
NEW BUSINESS:
Bill Bentley, a forester, professor, and independent consultant will be the guest speaker at this year’s Forest Forum. Ms. Dwyer will email the Commission with details on when and where this event will take place.
An article about Charles Katan retiring from the Conservation Commission was published in this month’s “Granby Drummer”.
ON A MOTION from Ms. Flint, seconded by Ms. Reuben, the meeting was adjourned at 8:11pm on a 4-0-0 vote.
Respectfully submitted,
Emily Leveille
