TOWN OF GRANBY
CONSERVATION COMMISSION
MINUTES
December 16, 2010
PRESENT: Neil Hornish, Shelley Reuben, and Carolyn Flint.
Also present was Anna Sogliuzzo.
Chairman Hornish could not confirm a quorum, so informal discussion began at 7:36pm.
DRAFT RIDGELINE GUIDELINES:
Chairman Hornish brought two draft versions of the Ridgeline Guidelines and had Ms. Flint help him determine which the more recent draft was. The Commissioners will review the Guidelines for the January 6, 2011 Commission meeting.
PUBLIC LIBRARY DISPLAY:
The Conservation Commission will be creating a display which will be housed in the Granby Public Library during the month of February. The Commission decided to divide the display case into three sections: (1) Alternative Energy/EPA Community Challenge, (2) Natural Resource Inventory and (3) Who We Are, What We Do.
Ms. Reuben will take the lead on creating the Alternative Energy portion of the board, Chairman Lengvarsky and Ms. Flint will work on the NRI section and Chairman Hornish will develop the third section on the Conservation Commission. Ms. Flint volunteered to contact members of the Granby Camera Club for photos of Granby’s natural features to use in the display.
REVIEW OF MINUTES FROM DECEMBER 2, 2010 MEETING:
The minutes from the December 2, 2010 Conservation Commission meeting were reviewed, but not voted on as a quorum was not met. Ms. Reuben noted that the abbreviation for CACIWC was incorrect. Ms. Flint asked it be noted that she will be incorporating some information on soils into the NRI but has not done so yet. These changes will be voted on at the January 6, 2011 Conservation Commission meeting.
CLEAN ENERGY TASK FORCE:
The webinar on how to best utilize the $4,000 grant was held on December 3, 2010 and Ms. Reuben and Ms. Sogliuzzo both attended. The main purpose of the webinar was to understand the requirements for receiving and using the grant money. Ms. Reuben will be completing a proposal on behalf of the Conservation Commission for the grant money. Chairman Hornish suggested the Clean Energy Task Force designate a treasurer to manage the funds if the Town is rewarded the grant.
The discussion ended at 8:21pm.
Respectfully submitted,
Emily Leveille
