TOWN OF GRANBY
CONSERVATION COMMISSION
MINUTES
April 7, 2011
PRESENT: Neil Hornish and Carolyn Flint
Also present was Anna Sogliuzzo, as well as Carole Bernard and Ed Domeracki of Power Quality Solutions located in Glastonbury, CT.
A quorum was not met.
COMMISSION VACANCIES:
Ms. Anna Sogliuzzo has not been approved by the Board of Selectmen yet to become a Conservation Commissioner, therefore leaving the Commission with three empty seats.
NATURAL RESOURCE INVENTORY (NRI):
Chairman Hornish uploaded the Microsoft Word file of the draft NRI to the Gmail account for the Commission to edit and review.
The Commission expects Ms. Dwyer will have a draft of the wildlife section of the NRI for the April 21, 2011 Commission meeting.
Ms. Flint presented a draft copy to the Commission about the Town’s scenic road designations. The section gives readers a synopsis of what the ordinance entails, which roads are designated scenic and what restrictions apply.
The goal of the Commission is to have the NRI ready for Granby’s 225th anniversary celebration in October.
DRAFT RIDGELINE GUIDELINES:
Chairman Hornish told the Commission that he submitted the draft guidelines to the Planning and Zoning Commission for review; however, he does not know when the guidelines will be discussed at a Planning and Zoning Commission meeting.
CLEAN ENERGY TASK FORCE:
Chairman Hornish is working to create a spreadsheet of all the companies which are a part of the sign-up program and what terms and contracts are required for each. Once complete, Chairman Hornish will distribute the spreadsheet to Commissioners for review. After the Commission has finalized the document, it will be provided to the community.
Ms. Sogliuzzo commented that the Commission should ask Santi Camarotti, Director of Facilities for the Granby Public Facilities, to speak about his energy savings strategies at an upcoming Commission meeting. She also thought it would be a good idea to have Mr. Camarotti to speak at a Board of Finance meeting.
