ON A MOTION by Chairman Lengvarsky, seconded by Ms. Rueben, the meeting was handed over to Ms. Mazzei-Stepanov to lead on a 5-0-0 vote, as Chairman Lengvarsky needed to leave due to illness.
COMMUNITY RESOURCE INVENTORY:
Ms. Mazzei-Stepanov passed around the community resource inventory she created using NEMO’s website. Her suggestion was to come to the next Conservation Commission meeting prepared with ideas from other towns, and have a round-table discussion on the elements from these other community resource inventories which they found to be important.
Mr. Hornish has already begun to look at other communities’ inventories and will present his findings at the next meeting. He also printed off a copy of the list of endangered or threatened species from the State Department of Environmental Protection’s website.
Ms. Dwyer also suggested that the Commission look into the State of Connecticut’s Plan of Conservation of Development.
20% BY 2010 CAMPAIGN:
Ms. Shelley Rueben reported to the Commission that the campaign’s website has yet to be updated in regards to the number of signatures Granby already has. She has plans to work towards a broader approach in which to raise awareness throughout the town about the 20% by 2010 Campaign.
Ms. Rueben has also contacted members of the Chamber of Commerce in regards to having a table at Celebrate Granby on June 13, 2009. She will email the Commission with more information about the event as she hears back from the Chamber. Mr. Hornish will be available for the event if the Commission is successful in reserving a table.
RAINBARREL EVENT:
Ms. Mazzei-Stepanov will contact Chairman Lengvarsky to see if Ms. Petras has sent him flyers for the event, which will be held on June 13, 2009.
