CONSERVATION COMMISSION
MINUTES
July 16, 2009
PRESENT: Mike Lengvarsky, Susan Dwyer, Carolyn Flint, Shelley Reuben, Victoria Mazzei-Stepanov, and Neil Hornish
Chairman Lengvarsky called the meeting to order and confirmed a quorum at 7:38pm
MINUTES:
The minutes from the July 9, 2009 meeting were read.
ON A MOTION by Ms. Reuben, seconded by Ms. Mazzei-Stepanov, the minutes were approved on a 5-0-1 vote. Ms. Dwyer abstained from voting since she was not present at the July 9, 2009 meeting.
CT 20% BY 2010 CAMPAIGN:
Ms. Reuben created flyers for the Clean Energy Workshop event to be held on July 24, 2009 at the Senior Center from 7pm-9pm. The Commissioners created a list of locations in town for the flyers to be posted. Ms. Reuben also discussed what she will be presenting at the July 24, 2009 workshop. Mr. Hornish will supply a projector for the evening.
COMMUNITY RESOURCE INVENTORY:
The following is a list of interests each commissioner has to work on for the Community Resource Inventory for Granby:
•Carolyn Flint and Charles Katan: Water resources, flood plains, fisheries
• Shelley Reuben: Forested land, farmland
• Susan Dwyer: Wildlife corridors, endangered/threatened species
• Neil Hornish: Prime and secondary conservation areas, open space
• Mike Lengvarsky: Geology, aquifers
• Victoria Mazzei-Stepanov: Geology, aquifers
The Commissioners will research their areas of interest, and meet back at a future meeting to present their findings. Ms. Reuben will work on a more extensive outline for the August 6, 2009 meeting. Mr. Hornish will present his preliminary findings on conservation areas and open space for the first Conservation Commission meeting in September.
ON A MOTION by Ms. Shelley Reuben, seconded by Ms. Carolyn Flint, the Commission voted (6-0-0) to adjourn the meeting at 8:20pm.
