TOWN OF GRANBY
CONSERVATION COMMISSION
MINUTES
August 6, 2009
PRESENT: Mike Lengvarsky, Charles Katan, Neil Hornish, Carolyn Flint, and Victoria Mazzei-Stepanov
Chairman Lengvarsky called the meeting to order and confirmed a quorum at 7:37pm
MINUTES:
The minutes from the July 16, 2009 meeting were read.
ON A MOTION by Ms. Flint, seconded by Mr. Hornish, the minutes were approved as amended on a 4-0-1 vote. Mr. Katan abstained from voting since he was not in attendance at the July 16, 2009 meeting.
COMMUNITY RESOURCE INVENTORY:
Ms. Reuben put together an outline for the Community Resource Inventory (CRI), which she modeled mainly after the Town of Woodstock, CT’s CRI. After some discussion, the Commissioners agreed the CRI will be a broader tool to use than just for open space preservation. Chairman Lengvarsky will contact Ms. Reuben to make this change in the Introduction/Statement of Purpose section.
Chairman Lengvarsky asked the Commissioners to take another look at the working outline and send any questions or comments directly to Ms. Reuben so she can make revisions.
20% BY 2010 CAMPAIGN:
Chairman Lengvarsky commented on the July 24, 2009 Clean Energy Event. The material from both Ms. Reuben and the Solar Energy Program was good, and Chairman Lengvarsky felt more events should occur.
The Commission will work with Ms. Reuben at the next meeting to decide what the next event should be and when it should occur.
NEW BUSINESS:
Ms. Flint has extra copies of the Wild and Scenic newsletter if anyone is interested in reading this document.
Mr. Katan brought in some documents that he uncovered at his home which refer to Community Resource Inventories.
ON A MOTION by Mr. Hornish, seconded by Ms. Mazzei-Stepanov, the Commission voted (5-0-0) to adjourn the meeting at 8:15pm.
Respectfully submitted,
Emily Leveille
