On Monday 10-20-08 the Development Commission held a Special Meeting in the Granby Police Department Community Room. The Commission’s regular meeting, originally scheduled for 10-13-08 had been cancelled due to the Columbus Day Holiday.
The Commission members focused their discussion on the Granby Center. Fran Armentano addressed the draft zoning regulations for the Center. He discussed the public comments from the 9-22-08 public workshop. Fran provided maps which outlined a significant change in the Center Edge and Center Commons area. The change incorporates almost all of the properties that are identified within the National Register of Historic Places into the Center Edge Zone. Fran discussed this further and the members supported the change. The Commission then when over the Center draft regulations and suggested various changes and pointed out a variety of thoughts and concerns. Many of the items discussed were based on the public comments from the workshop. A number of concerned citizens were in
attendance at this 10-20-08 meeting. The Commission opened a dialog with the citizens in attendance and received a useful response on the progress to date. Fran was directed to modify the wording in the regulations, specifically regarding “historic properties”. He agreed to make a variety of changes and will work directly with Chairman Murtha on these matters.
Fran reported on various commercial activities and the general economic climate within the Town. The Commission members discussed these matters and discussed anticipated PZC applications. The members noted their support for a winery in Town.
