GRANBY DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION

Present: Bud Murtha, Chairman, Martin Schwager, Edward Guarco, Robert Rome, John Krug, Ken Kuhl and Fran Armentano, Director of Community Development.
On March 16, 2009 the Development Commission held a special meeting in the Police Department Community Room. While this meeting is identified as a Special meeting, it was scheduled as a replacement of the Commission’s normally scheduled meeting of March 9, 2009.
The Commission discussed the Granby Center Zone and the anticipated public hearing on this issue that is scheduled for April 14, 2009. The members will attend the PZC meeting and speak at the public hearing.
The Commission discussed the availability of commercial space and the general commercial climate. They noted that the closing of the Floydville Road Bridge was impacting commercial businesses along Salmon Brook Street north. The closing is also impacting the center area traffic, particularly during the evening rush hour.
The Commission discussed pending construction and existing construction and exchanged ideas on increasing commercial activity.
The meeting adjourned at 8:45 p.m.
