BOARD OF FINANCE
SPECIAL MEETING
APRIL 26, 2004
PRESENT: Michael Guarco, Chairman; Gordon Bischoff, Christopher Comer, Al Wilke, Richard O’Brien, and Francis Brady
Chairman Guarco called the special meeting to order at 9:40 p.m.
ESTABLISH MILL RATE FOR FISCAL YEAR 2004-05
Richard O’Brien made a MOTION as follows:
2004-05 RESOLUTION FOR MILL RATE
WHEREAS The Referendum Vote has adopted an Annual Budget for the 2004-05 Fiscal Year on April 26, 2004, as proposed by the Board of Finance; and
WHEREAS This Budget includes appropriations from the General Fund, Dog Fund, Cossitt Library Fund, Local Capital Improvement Program Fund, Capital Equipment/ Improvement Fund, Capital Non-Recurring Expenditure Fund, Town Aid Road Fund, Sewer Fund, Recreation Events Fund, Education Quality and Diversity Fund, and Other Funds; and
WHEREAS This Budget includes an expenditure amount for the Board of Selectmen of $11,523,833 and an expenditure amount for the Board of Education of $21,090,458 for a total Town Budget of $32,614,291; and
WHEREAS Anticipated revenues excluding taxes levied for the 2004-05 Fiscal Year amount to $8,534,720,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Finance set a mill rate of 31.97 to raise an estimated $24,079,571 in property taxes for the 2004-05 Fiscal Year.
Al Wilke seconded the motion, the Board voted unanimously to approve 6-0-0.
CONFIRM DATE OF NEXT MEETING
Chairman Guarco indicated that the Board of Finance meeting scheduled for May 17, 2004 is no longer available for meeting. A discussion ensued to schedule the next meeting.
The consensus of the Board was to schedule the next meeting for May 20, 2004 at 7:30 p.m. at a location to be determined.
ADJOURNMENT
ON A MOTION by Richard O’Brien, seconded by Francis Brady, the Board voted unanimously (6-0-0) to adjourn the meeting at 9:47 p.m.
