BOARD OF FINANCE SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES
APRIL 12, 2010
PRESENT: Michael Guarco, Chairman; Gordon Bischoff, Francis Brady, Robert Clark, Frederick Moffa, OD, and Al Wilke
Also present: John E. Adams, First Selectman; William F. Smith, Jr., Town Manager; Barbarajean C. Scibelli, Administration Finance Officer; Alan Addley, Superintendent of Schools
Chairman Guarco called the meeting to order at 9:07 p.m.
CONSIDERATION OF ACTION ON THE FY 2010-11 ANNUAL TOWN BUDGET TO BE PRESENTED AT THE APRIL 26, 2010 ANNUAL TOWN MEETING
Chairman Guarco opened this topic for discussion by his board. The Board concurred that the public comment was in support of the budget and no dissents were heard.
On a MOTION by Francis Brady, seconded by Al Wilke, the Board voted unanimously (6-0-0) to proceed to Town Meeting with the budget of $40,490,726 which results in a 1.1% mill rate increase.
CONSIDERATION OF 2009-10 AUDITOR
Chairman Guarco commented this matter has previously been discussed about keeping the same auditor. The Board reviewed its options for appointment of the auditor for FY 2010. The Board then assessed Blum Shapiro’s credentials, some of which were their understanding of the state’s single audit report and their expertise. Next discussed was Blum Shapiro’s length of contract with the town already and the best choice of auditors for FY 2010.
On a MOTION by Francis Brady, seconded by Al Wilke, the Board voted unanimously (6-0-0) to retain Blum Shapiro and Company, P.C. as auditors for FY 2010.
ADJOURNMENT
On a MOTION by Al Wilke, seconded by Dr. Moffa, the Board voted unanimously (6-0-0) to adjourn the meeting at 9:15 p.m.
