LIBRARY EXPANSION STUDY COMMITTEE
REGULAR MEETING
October 1, 2008
Chairman Bill Kennedy called the regular meeting of the Library Expansion Study Committee to order at 7:05 p.m.
Present: Bill Kennedy, Roger Hernsdorf, Gerard Smyth, Del Shilkret

There was no public comment.
Chairman Kennedy reported that the Town Manager has approved the letter to architects and has given some suggestions for the architect questions. Mr. Kennedy stated that the letter to architects would be sent the same week that the RFP is advertised. Three weeks will be allowed for responses to come in. Once the proposals have been submitted, the committee will review and then select the top few firms. The names of those firms will be given to the Town Manager’s office and interviews will be scheduled. Once the committee has a general idea of what the design costs will be, they will make a request to the Board of Selectmen for that sum of money.
Del Shilkret suggested that the committee allow a response time of 4 weeks for the proposals. The committee was agreeable to this.
The committee reviewed the list of architect questions. (Revisions attached). The questions will be given to the firms prior to the interview. Each firm will be given 20 minutes for their presentation, followed by questions. The committee will try to schedule two firms per evening, with tentative dates the first week of December.
The committee then reviewed the rating sheet for architect interviews. (Revisions attached)
ON A MOTION by Gerry Smyth, seconded by Roger Hernsdorf, the minutes of the September 3, 2008 meeting were approved (3-0-1) with the following correction:
Page 1, 3rd paragraph, last sentence, insert after “may be scheduled”, the phrase, “for the architects selected for interview”.
The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 15, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. at the Granby Public Library.
ON A MOTION by Gerry Smyth, seconded by Roger Hernsdorf, the meeting was adjourned at 8:20 p.m.
