LIBRARY EXPANSION STUDY COMMITTEE
REGULAR MEETING
October 15, 2008
Chairman Bill Kennedy called the regular meeting of the Library Expansion Study Committee to order at 7:00 p.m.
Present: Bill Kennedy, Linda Viers, Gerard Smyth, Del Shilkret
Others: Lynn Lochhead, Evie Caranchini
There was no public comment.
ON A MOTION by Del Shilkret, seconded by Gerry Smyth, the minutes of the October 1, 2008 meeting were approved (3-0-1).
Bill Kennedy reported that the letter to architects will be sent out on October 16, and the ad for architects will be published early next week.
The committee reviewed the timeline and decided to reschedule architect interviews until Dec 16 and 17. The revised timeline is as follows:
November 5 Regular Meeting
November 17 Architect Information due
November 19 Regular Meeting, distribute and begin review of architect info
December 3 Regular Meeting, select top four architects
December 16 Architect Interviews
December 17 Architect Interviews
The committee reviewed the list of architect questions again. Bill Kennedy will group the questions by topic.
Lynn Lochhead reported that the CT Statutes Sec 29-256a has been amended to require that state funded library projects must include a “green” component. The Library Journal, Design Institute East will hold a “Going Green” seminar on December 4, 2008 at the Legislative Office Building. Linda Viers, Bill Kennedy and Del Shilkret expressed interest in attending. Bill Kennedy will look into this possibility.
The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, November 5. The committee will discuss the library’s program space needs.
ON A MOTION by Gerry Smyth, seconded by Linda Viers, the meeting was adjourned at 8:08 p.m.
