Call to order: A quorum was present and this special meeting was called to order at 6:40 p.m.

Agenda Item: Discussion and vote on proposed hours of operation effective July 1, 2010
Granby Public Library hours are proposed to change from 54 hours weekly to 42 hours weekly. Proposed new hours are: Monday, Noon – 8:00 p.m.; Tuesday, 9 – 6:00 p.m.; Wednesday, Noon – 8:00 p.m.; Thursday, 9 – 6:00 p.m.; Friday, 9 – 1:00 p.m.; and Saturday 9 – 1:00 p.m. There will be no Sunday hours.
Chairman Lochhead showed a letter she received from the Friends of the Cossitt Library stating their suggestion for hours at Cossitt Library. Bobbie Sullivan spoke, explaining why they choose the hours they did. They are trying to be open for after school hours and for the people who would choose to stop on their way home from work.
Three options for new hours at Cossitt Library have been presented for review by the Board. They are:

Thursday 10-12, 5-8 pm Thursday 9:30-12, 5:30-8 pm
Saturday Noon-4 pm Saturday Noon-5 pm

The idea is to have Cossitt Library open at time when Granby Public Library isn’t open and vice versa. J. Fox commented that the goal is to have the libraries open and available to the public for reasonable hours. The staff is now interdependent and interchangeable. Most staff members can work in, pretty much, all areas. Scheduling will be very tight and dinner breaks and coverage have to be taken into consideration. A drawback to option three is that one evening a week, neither library would be open. Option two seems practical, with one suggested change, that being, change the 9:30 a.m. start time to 10:00 a.m. and the 5:30 p.m. start to 5:00 p.m. (like in option one).
ON A MOTION by D. Lydon, seconded by J. Goff, the Board voted unanimously (7-0-0) to approve the proposed Granby Public Library hours as stated above for a total of 42 hours a week and the proposed Cossitt Library hours, Option number one, with one change, that being Saturday hours will be from noon – 5:00 p.m. for a total of 15 hours a week. These approved hours will be effective July 1, 2010 through June 30, 2011.
The next regular meeting will be Monday, June 14, 2010 at 7:30 p.m. at the Granby Public Library.

ON A MOTION by J. Goff, seconded by D. Lydon, the Board voted unanimously (7-0-0) to adjourn the meeting at 7:07 p.m.
