- March 24, 2009 there will be a program by Carrie Driscoll on the book Animal, Vegetable, Miracle: A Year of Foodlife by Barbara Kingsolver.

In April, at the Town Hall Meeting Room, Granby will host – CT Forum, a series of presentations at group area libraries.
- A discussion of Eat, Pray, Love will be held at Cossitt Library on March 10th.
- March 10th, Joan Fox will meet with J. Klase, Director of Public Works and a representative from the Hartford Foundation to discuss funding for Cossitt Library improvements. Hartford Foundation would match funds raised, but they want to see local effort.
Economic Stimulus money may be available to town libraries, but not for new construction projects. Renovations would be acceptable. Maybe additional hours too.
- BEARS - a DEP program will be held at the Town Hall Meeting Room on Saturday, April 18th at 1:00 p.m.
- Friday, April 8th, Saturday, April 9th and Sunday, April 10th – Libraries will be closed for Good Friday and the Easter weekend.
Old Business
Expansion Committee Update: Chairman Lochhead reported Bill Kennedy, Chairman of the Library Expansion Study Committee received a letter from Peter Gisolfi and Associates. When the Board of Selectmen stated that money was not available to hire an Architect, Bill Kennedy spoke with P. Gisolfi to ask what, if any, work could be done now. P. Gisolfi’s reply stated that for $7,500 there are four or five items that could be completed by June 30, 2009 in preparation for the project. Mr. Kennedy will speak with Mr. Smith and will ask to be put on an upcoming Board of Selectmen Agenda to ask for $7,500.
It appears that grant money from the state, for library additions, is gone for FY 2009-10.
Program idea – Job’s, looking for and obtaining a new job in today’s market. Writing a resume. It could help to show another use for libraries, especially during difficult times.
Board Vacancy: A volunteer has not been found to fill the Boards vacancy.
2009-10 Budget: 2009-10 Budget – Some Board members attended the Board of Selectman Budget Workshop meeting tonight. Nothing unexpected was discussed or brought up. There will be no lost hours or positions, but the library will not gain additional staff.
New Business
No report.
Adjournment
ON A MOTION by M. Council, seconded by C. Bressor the Board voted unanimously (6-0-0) to adjourn the meeting at 8:15 p.m.
The next meeting will be Monday, April 13, 2009, 6:00 p.m., at Granby Public Library. Pizza will be served. There is a Budget Public Hearing at 7:00 p.m. at the High School Auditorium.
