(It should be noted that the numbers for April appear lower because the library was open on Sundays during the month of March.)
Joan Fox reported on miscellaneous items:
- The programs Bears in CT and English Garden Lady were both very well attended and very well done.
- The Connecticut Forum on the Simpsons had a small attendance (seven to nine people), although that number was amongst the best of all the libraries that offered it
- Most programs are coming to a close and planning has started for the summer programs. The theme for Cossitt will be “Fiesta Time” and for Granby, “Be a Star” and “Read Like a Rock Star”. Sign up for these programs will begin at the end of June.
- The girls of the Girl Books Club chose the name, “Really Rockin’ Reading Group” for their program.
- There will not be an adult summer reading group but Joan is in the process of creating a new group, “The Un-Book Club”.
Old Business:
Duncan Rowles’ books are ready for circulation and the DVD lecture course is coming.
Expansion Committee Update: The Hartford Foundation Grant has been written but Ms. Fox was unsure if it went to the Board of Selectmen yet for their approval. If the Foundation accepts the grant, they ask for $10,000 in Town Giving (not from the budget). There is nothing additional to report as all capital projects in Town have been suspended.
Board Vacancy: Nothing to report. Still looking for a Board member.
2009-1010 Budget: The revised proposed budget includes $80,000 in cuts to the Municipal Budget and $270,000 in cuts to the Education Budget.
New Business:
No report
Adjournment:
ON A MOTION by Lisa Blessis, seconded by Marty Council, the Board voted unanimously (6-0-0) to adjourn the meeting at 8:00 p.m.
The next meeting will be held on Monday, June 8, 2009 at 7:30 p.m., at Granby Public Library.
Respectfully submitted,
Kathy Kane
