TOWN OF GRANBY
BOARD OF SELECTMEN
PUBLIC HEARING
MINUTES
FEBRUARY 16, 2010
The public hearing of the Board of Selectmen was called to order by First Selectman John Adams at 7:20 p.m.
PRESENT: John Adams, Ronald Desrosiers, B. Scott Kuhnly, Mark Neumann, and William F. Smith, Jr., Town Manager
First Selectman Adams opened the hearing. Town Clerk Karen Hazen proceeded to read the legal notice as published in the Hartford Courant. The Board of Selectmen called for the public hearing for the purpose of hearing public comment regarding the Town of Granby considering an Ordinance Adopting a Codification and Revision of the Ordinances.
First Selectman Adams asked if there were any written communications received and Town Manager Smith stated he received no comments on the public hearing. Town Manager Smith explained the codification process and how the ordinances will now be reorganized in the same fashion as the State Statutes. This makes ordinances easier to find and enforce. Selectman Neumann noted how General Code reviewed our ordinances, reorganized and brought them up to date. He did question the wording in the schedule A, Chapter 6, Article VI, Section 6-14 that reads the Conservation Commission members are to be appointed by the Town Manager and not the Board of Selectmen as was stated before. He would like to amend that to read the Board of Selectmen would appoint members of the Conservation Commission, as was previously in
place. Town Attorney Holtman reviewed this section and he agreed it was statutorily correct to remain, as it was, that the Board of Selectmen would be allowed to appoint members of the Conservation Commission.
No other public addressed the public hearing. The public hearing was closed at 7:25 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
William F. Smith, Jr.
Town Manager
