PRESENT: John Adams, Ronald Desrosiers, Frank Judice, Sally King, Mark Neumann, and William F. Smith, Jr., Town Manager
First Selectman Adams opened the hearing and read the legal notice as published in the Hartford Courant. The Board of Selectmen has called for a public hearing for the purpose of hearing public comment regarding the Town of Granby entering into a Police Mutual Aid Agreement with the Town of Southwick, Massachusetts. The purpose of the agreement will increase both towns ability to protect the lives, safety, and property of the people.
Town Manager Smith stated he received no comments either written or verbal. The proposed resolution was created as a joint effort between Chief Watkins and Attorney Holtman, along with the Town Attorney and Chief of Police of Southwick.
Chief Watkins was present this evening and provided a brief overview of the agreement. He stated the agreement is basically just formalizing the cooperation existing between the two towns for the past fifty years.
Charles Warren, 10 Day Street South, addressed the public hearing expressing strong support for the agreement. He stated mutual aid has been a long-standing practice and exists between most agencies.
