TOWN OF GRANBY
BOARD OF SELECTMEN
PUBLIC HEARING
MINUTES
April 16, 2007
The public hearing of the Board of Selectmen was called to order by First Selectman John Adams at 7:15 p.m.
PRESENT: John Adams, Ronald Desrosiers, Frank Judice, Sally King, Mark Neumann, William F. Smith, Jr., Town Manager; and Knute Gailor, Student Liaison
First Selectman Adams opened the hearing and read the legal notice as published in the Hartford Courant. The Board of Selectmen has called for a public hearing for the purpose of hearing public comment regarding the creation of a proposed Granby Agricultural Commission Ordinance.
Town Manager Smith stated he received no comments either written or verbal, however, a couple of people did contact him expressing interest in serving on the Commission.
Selectman King furnished background information on the proposed ordinance. It came to her attention when the Town of Guilford passed such an ordinance. She then suggested a meeting be held in Granby to determine interest. The meeting was held last November, was well attended, and at that time several residents expressed interest in the proposed ordinance. The issue was then referred to the Board of Selectmen for their consideration.
Jim Glenney, 33 Glen Road, spoke in support of the proposed ordinance stating that he favored any action that would support agriculture.
No other public addressed the public hearing. The public hearing was closed at 7:27 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
William F. Smith, Jr.
Town Manager
