1. BE IT RESOLVED that upon recommendation of the Board of Selectmen, the Town of Granby, approves the discontinuance of Fox Road as follows:
Fox Road is located approximately 640 feet north of the intersection of Barkhamsted Road (State Route 219) and Hartland Road (State Route 20).
Fox Road begins at the intersection with Hartland Road and extends approximately 2,980 feet northwesterly to its end.
Further information is on file in the office of the Town Manager at Granby Town Hall.
Dated at Granby, Connecticut, this 15th day of September 2008.
The warning was duly signed by all the members of the Board of Selectmen.
By Charter, in the absence of the Town Moderator, Donald Wilmot, First Selectman John Adams served as Moderator and called the Special Town Meeting to order at 8:00 p.m.
First Selectman Adams then called on Town Clerk Karen I. Hazen, to read the call as recorded on page 174.
The RESOLUTION, as recorded on page 174 was introduced by First Selectman Adams and seconded by Town Manager Smith.
The Moderator asked if there was any information received concerning the call.
Town Manager Smith reported he received a letter, which is attached, from DEP stating their objection to the discontinuance of Fox Road. Also, he referred to comments received from the Planning and Zoning Commission favoring the discontinuance.
Town resident Deborah Brooks, 3 Fox Road, wanted the Resolution amended to allow some portion of Fox Road to remain a town road. She stated the discontinuance of Fox Road to her house would be a hardship to her, especially in the winter.
ON A MOTION by Selectman Judice, to amend the resolution to allow the portion of Fox Road, to 3 Fox Road, to remain open to satisfy comments by Ms. Brooks, First Selectman Adams asked for a second, there was none. He then declared the amendment to the resolution failed.
There were no other comments from the public.
First Selectman Adams then called for a voice vote. The majority of the voice vote reflected a yes vote and there was one vote of opposition. The Moderator then declared the resolution passed.
RESOLUTION APPROVED
ON A MOTION by Selectman Desrosiers, seconded by Selectman Neumann, the Board voted unanimously (5-0-0) to adjourn the Special Town Meeting at 8:23 p.m.
