YOUTH SERVICES BUREAU ADVISORY BOARD
Minutes
April 14, 2010
PRESENT: Captain David Bourque, Meredith Hauser, Ingrid Helander, Kerry Kielbasa, Evan McCarthy, Becca Polglase, Donna Snyder, Sue Sojka, Lisa Venn, Chief David Watkins, Kay Woodford
ABSENT: Jack Cashman, Linda Pollock, Shirley Ryan, Kyle Venn, Wendy VanWelie, Mike Zanerzick
GUEST: Jeffrey Radcliffe
As there was not a quorum present, the meeting was cancelled.
NOTES:
- The Grandparent/Grandchild Breakfast scheduled for next week will be cancelled as there are only 19 individuals signed up.
- A brief update was given regarding the Coalition. The group has established sub-committees to address different goals and objectives. Membership has been completed and the bylaws will be looked at next. John Daviau is finished with the group at this point. A plan needs to be in place and implementation begun before hiring John for assistance with a drug-free community grant.
- When the Board is able to look at the YSB Strategic Plan, it is important to add the Search Institute Survey and needs assessment as part of the document.
- The importance of having a quorum at the meetings was mentioned. Without a quorum, no decisions can be made and the group is unable to move forward.
- The by-laws were reviewed and it was determined if a Board member misses three consecutive meetings, they can be asked to resign.
- A vacant position cannot be filled until the resigning member submits their resignation in writing. Presently, there are three vacancies for adults and three vacancies for youth. Members were encouraged to think of anyone they may know who might be interested in joining the Board.
The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at 4:00 p.m.
