Public Hearing Minutes 05/16/05
TOWN OF GRANBY
GRANBY WATER POLLUTION CONTROL AUTHORITY
PUBLIC HEARING
MINUTES
MAY 16, 2005

The public hearing of the Granby Water Pollution Control Authority (Board of Selectmen) was called to order by First Selectman John Adams at 7:15 p.m.

PRESENT:        John Adams, Ronald Desrosiers, Frank Judice, Sally King, Mark Neumann, and William F. Smith, Jr., Town Manager

First Selectman Adams opened the public hearing and read the legal notice as published in the Hartford Courant.  The Granby Water Pollution Control Authority has called for a public hearing for the purpose of setting the sewer use rates for 2005-2006.

Town Manager Smith stated he received no communications either written or verbal.

The rates recommended are $102.00 for residential users for average gallons (55,000 gpy) used per year and $147.00 per year for commercial/industrial users (100,000 gpy).  These rates have been in place for sometime and Granby has been able to maintain these rates because of new accounts coming on line, most of which are commercial.  The fees pay for electricity, repairs to the system, and space at the Town of Simsbury.

There are approximately 450 residential customers and approximately 80 commercial establishments in Granby.

In response to a question from Jim Glenney, 33 Glen Road, about raising the rates, Town Manager Smith indicated the town may not charge the users more than the cost.

No other public addressed the public hearing.

The public hearing was closed at 7:22 p.m.

                                                        Respectfully submitted,

                                                        William F. Smith, Jr.
                                                        Town Manager
