To Michael and Joey Noyes who both took first place in the State Finals of the 2008 Hot Shot Contest sponsored by CT. Recreation & Parks Association. Michael took 1st place in the Boys 13 15 age division; Joey took 1st place in the Boys 11 12 age division. Great job, guys!!!

Chris Corkum’s Baseball, Inc. staff will provide young players with both skill instruction and baseball conditioning – preparing the young player for the upcoming baseball season. Players are to bring their own bat and baseball glove to each session. Please wear sneakers. The program will focus on: hitting & throwing fundamentals, infield & outfield defense, and pitching.
Fishing Tips & Techniques
For Grades 5- 8
This CT. DEP-sponsored class will be taught by Ed Calhoun and Sue Alender at the GMMS Ecology Center. Curriculum includes discussions and videos on tackle boxes, lures, tackles, rod & reel combos, casting, fisheries management, aquatic management, baits, outdoor ethics, cleaning the catch, and identifying local fishing areas. The State provides the fishing poles (do not bring your own). Parents are required to remain during the class. Cost: $5 per student (adults do not pay). Please call the recreation office if you are interested.
