ARC Baby-Sitting Course
 For youth ages 11 - 15
This course will give participants the information and skills necessary to provide safe and responsible care for children in the absence of parents and adult guardians.  This training will help participants develop skills in leadership and professionalism; basic care; safety and safe play and first aid.  The class will be taught by a certified American Red Cross instructor and will include problem solving, identifying safe toys, caring for an infant, when to call 9-1-1, appropriate work behaviors for a baby-sitter, evaluating and choosing jobs, etc.  The course does NOT cover CPR.  Students who successfully complete this course may request being added to the Granby Youth Services Employment Resource List.  Students should bring a snack and a lunch.  There is no refund for this class.  Anyone paying by check should include a copy of his or her driver's license.

School's Out...Comics
 For youth ages 12 & Older

Do you want to create your own characters, worlds, stories and comics?  Partnering up with the FVAC, Free Lunch studios now offers exciting DAILY workshops!  Instructors Matt Ryan and Steve Kanaras guide you through the creation process with a new, comic themed challenge each day!  All materials will be provided.  All you need to bring is a snack and your imagination.

Writing for Children
For HS Teens through Adults
This four-week course will explore the various categories, markets, and techniques in writing for children.  The course will be a combination of lecture, exercises, and peer review of writing samples.  We will look at the current market trends and some of the current bestsellers and classics of children’s literature.  Students will be encouraged to write in the genre they are most comfortable in, be it fiction, non-fiction, long form or short.  Bring a pen, an imagination and step into the wonderful world of writing for an audience of children!  Steve Kanaras is the instructor.

Drawing and Painting for Teens with Matt Ryan
For ages 13 & older
Come to Matt Ryan's popular Friday sessions and develop skills in a relaxed atmosphere while working on individual projects.  Components of drawing and painting will explore pencil, charcoal, watercolors and acrylic paint, working from photo reference and the imagination.  Emphasis will be on creativity and individual expression.  Experiment with a new medium, try something new!
Anyone paying by check should include a copy of his or her driver's license.

Performing Arts
Performing Arts Programs is New England's proven and premiere talent development and educational program for children of all skill levels.  These professional, progressive programs come to our community dedicated to creating a fun, comfortable and affirmative environment to cultivate each child's own unique creativity.

These classes meet once a week for seven (7) weeks except for skip days.  At the conclusion of the session there will be an informal performance to demonstrate what participants have been working on.  For those who have taken these classes before, these classes will be challenging and offer new and exciting activities!
Anyone paying by check should include a copy of his or her driver's license.

Session II - Hip Hop/Jazz
for grades 1 - 8
This class consists of basic fundamentals of hip hop & jazz.  Participants will acquire confidence, discipline, terminology, rhythm, coordination, style and technique to current dance moves.  This class is designed for those with some, little or no dance experience.  Jazz shoes or sneakers are required.

It's an Edible Fun Art Workshop
for girls & boys ages 3-6

Literally “make your masterpiece and eat it too” in this very creative and incredible edible workshop!  Taste the best that art has to offer.  Children will start by decorating their own chef’s hat and then make an edible color wheel (and learn about primary and secondary colors).  They will discover the art of mosaics and make an edible tile too!  Children should come with their imaginations and empty stomachs.  Not many masterpieces go home from this art workshop

Let’s Gogh Art workshops provide hands-on, art-based experiences enjoyed in a stress free and nurturing environment.  With a bit of whimsy and wacky, they help art explorers think outside the box about art as it relates to the amazing world we live in.  They “create some fun” while adventurers make memories and masterpieces to take home.  All art materials are included in the fee.  Cover-ups are provided but wear art-friendly clothes!

Around the World Creativity Tour!
For ages 6-12
Join us on a tour of the world!  Adventurers create their own watercolor hot air balloons to take them up and away!  They land in several places to create wicked cool cultural crafts of the region.  In Puerto Rico they work with clay and make scary Vejigante masks and in Arizona, try their hand at sand painting.  Make spirit dolls in Panama and in Spain, paint and decorate a fancy fan.  This art-venture includes a bit of geography, history, culture, music lots of humor and your very own masterpieces to take home!

We're Going on a Bear Hunt! -
A Daddy & Me Activity for ages 3-8
Join in with Let’s Gogh Art’s expert storyteller while she involves everyone in the reading of an engaging story based on the old camp chant.  (Of course, there is a daddy in the story.)  Then let your imagination soar as you create your very own works of art together.  (A hint:  there is a bear involved.)  Music and laughter add to this awesome memory-making event!

Cover-ups are provided, but wear art-friendly clothes.  All art project materials are included in the fee. Lasting memories and prideful masterpieces go home with each child!
