Adults-Only Drop-In Programs
Drop-in Ballroom Dancing '07 - '08
Join Stephen Bailey for instruction.  There are no classes during school vacations, holidays, no-school days or emergency release days.  No reservations necessary, but please contact the Recreation Office (844-5356) with your name and phone number.

Adults-Only Drop-In Basketball '07 - '08
For Granby residents only, over 18 and HS graduate.  Drivers license verification required.  Participants must wear white-soled gym shoes.  Food and beverages (including water) are not permitted in the gyms.  No drop-in on vacation or no-school days.  Usage is subject to HS schedule.  Cost:  $2 per person, per evening to assist with the cost of the monitor.  Start with the Community Gym; if unavailable, try the HS gym.  Drop in for February 4th and 6th will be canceled because of a primary.  Please note: Up to and including March 5, Wednesday evenings are 8:15-9:30PM.  Normal hours resume on Monday, March 12.

Ceramics Classes
For adults & youth 16+
Hollie Hecht, Granby Art Teacher, offers another opportunity for participants to create sculptural, functional and decorative ceramics... teacups, wind chimes, bowls, boxes etc.  Returning students can continue to work on their own ideas while beginners will be introduced to a variety of hand building and glazing techniques.  This class is geared for individual ability and designs with the instructor providing valuable technical information and 1-to-1 assistance.

Belly Dancing/Fitness with Leila
For adults & teens
Exercise to a Middle Eastern beat with Leila.  Fitness classes are designed to focus on muscle isolation, dance rhythms, body sculpting and more to shape and tone the body at any age.  This is a pre-pay class, not a drop-in.

2008 DEP Boating Certification

Special Occasion/Wedding/Prom Dance Classes
All ages welcome
Learn three of the most popular dances for parties and weddings QUICKLY so that even you "never-ever" dancers will enjoy yourself right away!  Come to the two 2-hour classes and learn the most all-occasion dance (Waltz), the most popular up-tempo dance (Swing), and one of the most effervescent dances (Merengue)!  We'll have instruction sheets to help you remember what you learn! 2008 What I Need to Know to Get a Hole-in-one!
Lessons for adult players
Adult group lessons at Copper Hill Driving Range & Golf Academy in East Granby.  These lessons are appropriate for beginners or golfers looking to brush up on the basics.  Includes full swing, short game, putting and chipping.  Clubs are available, if necessary (call Copper Hill ahead of time).  Instruction for all levels of ability.

2008 LINK UP 2 GOLF
For adults age 18+
This program is designed for new and returning golfers and is a part of a larger program sponsored by the PGA of America.  Included are four 90-minute group clinics, free use of rental clubs and range balls during the clinics, and four free "on course" experiences that consist of 3-5 holes of golf supervised by PGA staff.  Minimum age to participate is 18.  The individual components of the lessons are divided into instructional elements and "game of golf" elements relating to that week's instruction on swing mechanics.  Package also includes final 5-hole graduation scramble.  Copper Hill Golf Academy and Fox Run course in East Granby.

2008 Adult Tennis Lessons
Taught by Kevin Imbt, GMHS Tennis Team Coach, at Salmon Brook Park.  Participants are to bring a racket, towels, lots of water and wear tennis shoes.  Instruction will include drills, strategy and team play.  Courts at SBP are designed for ease on the knees and ankles.  Fridays are make-up days.

AARP Safe Driving Classes
Update your knowledge of the rules of the road, learn how to compensate for age-related changes and assess your driving skills.  This is a classroom refresher course with no test; earn a multi-year discount on your auto insurance (check with your insurance agent/company).  Must attend both sessions to qualify.  Limit 35 people.

Sell It on eBay!
Marlene Gavens, an official eBay trained instructor will address the following: what to do prior to listing an item, creating your listing, monitoring the listing and what to do after your item is sold.  Class participants should know how to access the Internet and use e-mail.  Owning a digital camera is useful but not required.  Cost includes class instruction and a comprehensive step-by-step manual prepared by eBay.
