Adult Drop-In Basketball
for adults 18 & older
On-going Mondays and Wednesdays, 7:30-9:30PM for Granby residents only, over 18 and HS graduates. Driver’s license/residency verification required. Participants must wear white-soled gym shoes. Food and beverages are not permitted in the gyms. No drop-in on no-school days. Usage is subject to HS schedule. Cost: $2pp per evening to assist with cost of the monitor. Start with the Community Gym; if unavailable, try the HS Gym. Men’s full court play on Mondays; Men’s over 35 & 60, half court play on Wednesdays.
Drop-In Ballroom Dancing
Fridays at Kearns School through June 4, Beginners/6:30 – 7:30 p.m. and Experienced/7:30 – 8:30 p.m. Dance instruction available from instructor Stephen Bailey. No classes on no-school days or snow days. Drop-in but please contact the Rec office with your name and phone number. Cost: $5pp, payable at the door.
AARP Safe Driving Class
An 8-hour classroom refresher course especially designed for drivers age 50 and over!
Update your knowledge of the rules of the road, learn defensive driving techniques, find out how to compensate for age-related changes in vision, hearing and reaction time, and what to do if confronted by an aggressive driver.
You’ll also get answers to driving challenges such as how to handle problem situations (left turns, right-of way, freeway traffic, trucks and blind spots), how medications may affect driving, and how to properly use anti-lock brakes and air bags.
Auto insurance companies in most states provide a multiyear discount to AARP graduates who have attended both sessions (consult your insurance agent/company about this – some give discounts for age 60+ only). You do not have to take a test.
