Exercise Classes

Exercise Options:

Smart Moves:  Mondays at 11:00 a.m.
Instructor:  Mary Fuller
This gentle exercise is for people with arthritis.  It puts you through the paces, helping to increase joint flexibility, range of motion and muscle strength.  

Strength & Cardio:  Mondays at 4:30 p.m.
Instructor:  Mary Fuller
Get your heart pumping and tone your muscles using hand-held weights, body bars, medicine balls and exercise balls.  All equipment is provided.

Basic Training for Men:  Tuesdays at 8:30 a.m.
Instructor:  Jennifer Dzielak
Strength training using a variety of equipment (i.e.: hand-held weights, stability balls and body bars).

Muscle Work for Women:  Tuesdays at 9:30 a.m.
Instructor:  Jennifer Dzielak
Strength training to tone muscles and build stamina.

Restorative Yoga:  Tuesdays at 4:30 p.m.
Instructor:  Lisa Schroeder
Concentrated breathing, relaxation and stretching.  Great for beginners and may be done in a chair.

Advanced Smart Moves:  Wednesdays at 11:00 a.m.
Instructor:  Mary Fuller
Less in-chair movement and increased standing exercise than the Smart Moves class.  Increase muscle-tone and joint mobility using hand-held weights and resistance bands.

Full Body Workout:  Wednesdays at 4:30 p.m.
Instructor:  Jennifer Dzielak
Quick-paced and designed to work all your muscle groups.  Move from station to stration to tone and strengthen.  

Morning Madness: Thursdays at 5:15 a.m.
Instructor: Jennifer Dzielak
For all you early risers who want to get your workout in first, this is the calss for you!

Yoga Flow:  Thursdays at 4:30 p.m.
Instructor:  Mary Fuller
Series of flowing postures with rythmic breathing for a complete mind-body workout.  Previous Yoga experience encouraged.

Tai Chi:
Mondays at 8:45 a.m. and Tuesdays at 5:45 p.m.
Instructor:  Judy Laiuppa
Balance, focused breathing, alignment and meditation are achieved in a relaxed atmosphere.
Intermediate and Advanced classes in Tai Chi also offered.  Instructor evaluation will determine appropriate level.

Cardio Combo:  Fridays at 10:15 a.m.
Instructor:  Mary Fuller
Using hand-held weights, exercise bands, and balls, you will help build strong bones, increase stability and control increasing your sense of well being.

PEAK: Sundays at 8:00 a.m.

This is a challenging workout designed to address all your muscle groups.

Indoor Walking
The perfect way to continue your walking routine during the hot summer!  The International Skating Center of Connecticut allows walkers year-round.  You will need to bring a jacket along, the ice keeps it very cool!  Van service offered on Monday and Wednesday mornings by calling 844-5353.

Cancellation Policy:  All Senior Center activities and transportation services will be cancelled whenever the Granby Public Schools are cancelled.  The Town of Granby further reserves the right to cancel programs in the event of inclement weather.

Pricing Structure for Classes:
Please contact the office for a registration form.  Payment is due the week prior to the start of a session.  Classes run continuosly.  You may join, as a new registrant, anytime.  Missed classes refunded with doctor excuse ONLY.  

NOTE:  Sneakers are required for all classes.  Hydration is an important part of exercise.  Please bring water.
