The Senior Center will be closed on Monday, May 26 in observance of the Memorial Day Holiday.


Cancellation Policy:  All Senior Center activities and transportation services will be cancelled whenever the Granby Public Schools are cancelled.  The Town of Granby further reserves the right to cancel programs in the event of inclement weather.


Call 844-5352 for information and to sign up.  Please note that space on trips is not guaranteed until paid in full.

SPECIAL MEALS

GMHS Culinary Arts Senior Appreciation Luncheon:  Thursday, May 15 at 11:30 a.m.
The students of the High School Culinary Arts program host this annual luncheon at the High School.  This year's menu includes Chicken Francese, green beans almondine, home-made rolls and chocolate cream pie.  Cost:  $2, payable at the door.  Senior van service available.

Annual Veteran's Luncheon:  Wednesday, May 21 at 12:00 p.m.  
Granby veteran's are invited to lunch as appreciation for the service given.  Veteran's are free, guests admitted for $4.

Spend a summer afternoon with friends enjoying sandwiches, salads and strawberry shortcake.  Cost:  $6, includes lunch and entertainment.


TRIPS:

The Book Barn:  Monday, May 12 departing at 9:30 a.m.
If you love books and enjoy looking for the hard to find ones, this is the place for you.  Be prepared to wander and to greet the various cats.  Cost:  $2

Kite Festival, Hammonasset State Park:  Sunday, May 18 departing at 9:30 a.m.
Spend the afternoon at the shore watching the colorful kites take to the skies.  Hope for sunny skies and a breeze for the festival.  Cost:  $4

IKEA:  Tuesday, May 27 departing at 10:00 a.m.
It's a great time to pick up something colorful to brighten up your home!  IKEA has a cafe and lots of interesting home goods.  Cost:  $3

Mystery Tour:  Wednesday, May 14 and June 11 departing at 1:30 p.m.http://www.granby-ct.gov/Public_Documents/GranbyCT_Senior/0073BFD7-000F8513.4/04232008_30918_1.gif?src=.PNGGo for a ride with us and enjoy the nice weather.  The Mystery Tour will take you for a scenic ride with a stop for a treat included.  It may be ice cream or it may be a roadside stand for fresh strawberries.  The idea is to get out and enjoy friends and scenery.  Cost:  $2 for the ride, treats not included


Thimble Islands Tour and the Chowder Pot:  Monday, June 9 departing at 9:15 a.m.
Cruise among the tiny islands nestled in Long Island Sound aboard the Sea Mist.  You'll be amazed that homes could be built on these rocky spots.   After the cruise, lunch will be at the Chowder Pot.  Cost:  $10, lunch not included.

Berkshire Botanicals:  Tuesday, June 17 departing at 9:30 a.m.
Enjoy this peaceful refuge of natural beauty and its stunning display of gardens.  Cost:  $10



Be a Kid Again at Quassy Park:  Wednesday, June 25 departing at 10:30 a.m.
Enjoy the music of "Island Rhythm", a fantastic luncheon, lake cruise and all-day ride passes. Cost:  $28

Stanley Park Concert Series:  Sunday, June 29 - The Dave Colucci Show
The van departs Granby at 5:00 p.m.  Concerts are free to the public. Van cards required and $2 van fee applies. (Summer dates TBA)

OUTINGS CLOSER TO HOME:

Picnic on the Mountain:  Friday, May 30 at 11:30 a.m.
Take a ride on the van to a lovely spot with a pretty view for a delightful picnic with friends.  Cost:  $8, includes bag lunch.

Joseph & The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat:  Saturday, May 24 at 2:00 p.m.
The talented drama students at GHMS present this colorful musical.  Van service for the Saturday performance is available.  Cost:  $5 for tickets

Lunch on the Lawn at Lost Acres:  Friday, June 13 at 12:15 p.m.
Visit the pretty orchards and enjoy a gourmet lunch al fresco.  Cost:  $12

Granby Garden Tour:  Saturday, June 14 at 10:00 a.m.
This event is sponsored by the Salmon Brook Historical Society.  Vistit some of the beautiful gardens here in town.  Owners will be on-hand to answer questions.  Cost:  $15

Lunch prices vary but are usually between $10-$15.  Reservations at 12:30 p.m.

Blue Fox Rock 'n Bowl:  Friday, May 16 & June 20 at 11:00 a.m.
Bowl a few games and have pizza for lunch.  This is a non-competitive group that has a great time! Cost:  $12, includes bowling, shoe rental, pizza and van service.
