All-Pro Vacation Sports Camps
For grades 1-6
Want your children to have fun with their friends over the vacation breaks?  Register your child now and they will spend their time playing basketball, soccer, floor hockey, dodge ball and more in a cooperative atmosphere that stresses fun over competition.  Participants will be grouped by age and ability.  They will receive a T-shirt as an award.  They should bring a snack and a water bottle; all day participants should bring a lunch.  Wear shorts/sweats/socks/T-shirts and sneakers (no boots or hard-soled shoes).  Bring outerwear in case we go outside.

Note:  Anyone paying by check must include a copy of his or her driver's license.

APRIL TENNIS
for boys & girls ages 6 & older
Classes geared to the beginner and intermediate youth player.  Taught by Kevin Imbt, GMHS Tennis Team coach.  Participants should bring an appropriately sized racket, lots of water, towels and wear tennis shoes. Salmon Brook Park Courts.  Balls will be provided.

Summer Tennis Lessons
        for ages 6 & older
Lessons are geared to the beginner (ages 6 – 9) and intermediate (ages 10+) youth player and held at Salmon Brook Park courts.  Kevin Imbt, GMHS Tennis Team Coach, will be the instructor.  Participants should bring an appropriately sized racket, lots of water and wear tennis shoes.  Balls will be provided.

Six classes, 3 Beginner and 3 Intermediate, are being offered in the morning & late afternoon into evening;  call the office (84405356) for the exact times.

Intro to Youth Wrestling
For Boys Grades 3 – 8

This is not the wild, “off the top rope” stuff you see on TV.  This is an opportunity for youth (and parents) to gain an understanding and appreciation for the various wrestling styles – Freestyle, Greco-Roman and Folkstyle.  Participants will be introduced to wrestling techniques, experience live wrestling and have fun learning about the world’s oldest sport.  Focus will be on learning moves, conditioning and stretching; no competition is involved.  The instructor is Todd Crisostomo, GMHS wrestling coach, assisted by members of the wrestling teams.  We ask a parent to stay during the sessions.

Chris Corkum Pre-Season Baseball
For Boys & Girls Ages 7-12
Get ready for the upcoming baseball season!  Chris Corkum's Baseball, Inc. staff will provide young players with both skill instruction and baseball conditioning - preparing the young athlete for the upcoming session.  The program will focus on: hitting & throwing fundamentals, pitching, defense and infield & outfield defense.

Players are to bring their own bat and baseball glove to each session; players are to wear sneakers or cleats.

Chris Corkum Summer Baseball Clinic
For girls & boys ages 7 - 12
The baseball program is geared to emphasize skill development.  The child is carefully guided through selected skill activities and drills culminating in team play.  Each child’s strengths and weaknesses are evaluated so growth is an on-going process.  Lecture and demonstrations by qualified instructors enhance this process to its fullest.  Videotaping is used where appropriate.

Summer Riding Camps
for ages 3 - 12
These sessions for youth ages 6-12 offer a unique opportunity for beginning riding students to learn horsemanship and farm skills through mounted & unmounted games and activities.  Students will be divided into small groups for mounted and unmounted lessons on how to tack up a horse, name the parts of a horse, saddle & bridle, and daily care for all farm animals. Walk trails, ride horses, feed animals, play games, make friends – this camp offers an opportunity for students to learn at every turn.  Under the direction of Kate Bogli.  Only 3 spots in each session.  

New!  For Pre-School ages 3-6 Children will learn similar skills in a separate group.  The shorter, 2-hour sessions include an instructive ride on our ponies as well as family story time and pre-school activities.

Participants should wear a boot with a heel, long pants for riding, water bottle, sack lunch, sunscreen, bug spray, swimsuit for dip in brook, OLD shorts & sneakers for after riding, and a towel.  Parent will need to fill additional out paperwork on 1st day.

Challenger British Soccer Camps provide young players with the rare opportunity to receive high-level soccer coaching from a team of international experts right in their own community.  Each day includes individual foot skills, technical drills, tactical practices, small-sided games, coached scrimmages, and a daily tournament.  Equally important, the Challenger coaching staff provides your child with lessons in self-discipline, good sportsmanship and respect for others and for the game.  There is maximum participation, constant feedback and lots of fun.

Mini-soccer Camp:  The fun games provide a magical introduction to the game of soccer.  Half-Day Camp:  Focusing on ball mastery and skill development, this program provides the perfect learning environment through individual and group practices and coached games.  The Full Day Camp is a more advanced camp for those serious about soccer.  Tactical development, game related techniques and coached match play are the order of the day.

Kangaroo Field Hockey Clinic
 for girls in grades 9-12

The Kangaroo Field Hockey Clinic is designed for the improvement not only of the player but the entire team.  There will be individual and group skills sessions, set play development and strategy sessions to involve as many skills as possible each day.  Goalkeepers will receive one-on-one instruction on skills and techniques necessary to play this vital position, as well as involvement in small games situations to develop these skills.

Clinic Director/Head Coach is David Mike from Australia.  In Australia he coaches both men and women in Sydney Premier leagues.  He has coached teams to 7 indoor and outdoor national titles.  Currently he is Project Officer at Hockey NSW in Sydney.  This will be his 9th year coaching Kangaroo Clinics.

Players must provide:  stick, mouth guard, shin guards, towel, sneakers, cleats, and sunscreen.  Goalkeepers must bring a complete set of goalie equipment including:  leg guards, kickers, gloves, helmet, chest/body protection, and stick, as well as items listed above.  All participants should bring a lunch, water (5 liters per day) and snacks as wanted.

FIELD HOCKEY CAMP
       For Girls Grades 3 – 8
Basics of passing, receiving and strategy will be stressed and lead-up games will be played to utilize these skills.  If you attended last year, there will be new and different things to learn this year.  Instructors will be Sandy Wickman Mason, Jody Bascetta and former & current Granby HS players.

WHAT TO BRING:  All participants must supply their own mouth guards, sticks, balls, cleats & shin guards.  Bring lots of water!  New players:  when going to a sports store to buy equipment, provide two (2) measurements for correct size stick: 1) from hipbone to floor and 2) height.

MYSTIC FIELD HOCKEY FITNESS
For Girls Grades 6-12
This camp is for those field hockey players that need to be conditioning before the start of the season.  Each day will build on the prior day’s programs and add several new techniques for the player to work and train with.  Sticks will be used to simulate hockey play in several of the drills.  This camp will prepare the player to jump right into the fall season with their coaches.  The “Beep Test” will be given on both the first and last day to give players a baseline for judging their own fitness levels against others around the world.

Instructor is Phil Danaher, coaching director of the Mystic Hockey Club, a USA Men’s field Hockey player and brings his experience as a player for 30 years.
