Registrars of Voters

Page updated on January 7, 2026.

Dear Granby Resident,

This is an invitation to empower you as a citizen of the United States of America to be able to vote for elected leaders.  Your right to vote is central to our Democracy. We are here to help you get registered to vote. The voter registration form is easy to fill out online. You can email the Registrar of Voters office and we will mail you a paper registration form. If needed, contact the Granby Town Clerk's Office to obtain an application for an Absentee Ballot.

A Record Municipal Election

3,912 Granby residents voted in the 2025 Municipal Election - a 46.30% turnout! This total easily surpasses the 2019 record of 3,203 ballots for a Granby Municipal Election.

2,498 voters came to the Community Gym at the High School to vote in person on Election Day. In addition, 17 people registered and voted at Town Hall via Same Day Registration as well as 59 Absentee Ballots and 1,338 Early Voter ballots from October 20 - November 2.

Recognition and Introduction

Thanks to the wonderful efforts of a well-trained poll worker staff,  the Town Clerk's office, the superb cooperation of the staff of Granby Memorial High School, and the Public Works Department, the election ran smoothly.

We premiered our new voting machines at the High School polls this year, replacing equipment that has been used in Granby elections since 2007.

Election Winners

There were ten races with a total of 22 openings. Mark Fiorentino ran unopposed and was reelected as First Selectman. Four races were contested. The candidates with the highest vote totals in those races were:

Board of Selectmen (2-year term): Margaret Q Chapple; Kim Becker; Frederick Moffa, Mark Neumann

Board of Finance (4-year term): David Demchak; Kent McCord; Toby Proctor

Board of Education (4-year term): Andrew Billig; Ann Woods, Donna Nolan

Town Moderator (2-year term): Francis Brady

See detailed election results for all the races on the Secretary of State’s website. (Select Hartford County, then select the Town of Granby.)

Looking Ahead

Both major parties are required to hold a caucus between January 6 and January 13 to elect Town Committee members for the next two years. The Republican caucus is scheduled for Wednesday, January 7. The Democratic caucus is scheduled for Thursday, January 8. Check with the respective parties' websites for more information.

You must be a member of a major party to participate. New and unaffiliated voters have until noon the day before the caucus to join a major party. There is, however, a three-month waiting period for those who are switching political parties to attain party privileges. This includes switching from a minor party such as the Independent party or the Green party.

Eligible party members who were not nominated but wish to petition to be a member of their respective party's town committee should contact the Registrars' Office immediately after the caucuses for details on the procedure and deadlines.
