On Monday, October 7, 2024, Granby Public Schools presented Don "The Flush" Rethke with a plaque, honoring his 15 years of volunteer service with the Granby Grunts Robotics as the group's founder in 2009. Mr. Rethke is a former employee of Hamilton Standard, and his work there is one of the main reasons that astronauts can flush toilets in space, hence his nickname as "The Flush." The plaque unveiled in the library is offered as a tribute for the time Mr. Rethke has spent mentoring our Granby Grunt Robotics students here in Granby.
